My senior dog suddenly can't move or stand. Is it serious?

Yesterday my dog laid on the floor to take a nap..she was normal all morning. She hasn't been able to move..she responds to us with her eyes. She has been eating and eating ice cubes..all while laying on her side. Her gums and eye lids are pink. Her breathing us normal. No change in food. She is twelve

This sounds very serious - you should see a veterinarian immediately if your dog is unable to stand and seems paralyzed. This can be a sign of a neurologic problem - causes can range from a brain tumor to tick borne diseases to certain toxins. The vet can start by performing a general physical and neurologic exam to determine what's going on. Blood work may be recommended as well.
