If there are only a few ticks you can safely remove them. If there are a lot of ticks, it would be best to have Max brought to your vet to have them removed. Your vet may also recommend testing for any tick-borne illnesses if you are an in area where this is an issue. Using a preventive medication such as Frontline or Advantage as well as clearing any brush around your home can also help reduce and prevent ticks in the future. https://www.petcoach.co/article/tick-removal/ https://www.petcoach.co/article/how-to-remove-a-tick-from-your-dog-or-cat/ https://www.petcoach.co/article/what-to-do-if-you-spot-a-tick-on-your-pet-or-in-your-home/

You need to remove the ticks including the head. Pull carefully but firmly from the base where it is attached at the skin. You should also get Jack on a good-quality tick preventative that will kill any attached ticks that you don't find look. Look between toes, in the ears, in skin folds, etc. for any remaining ticks. You should also check with your vet for the need for antibiotics if tick-borne disease is common in your area.
