Why is my 3-year-old cat vomiting more often? What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bengal | Female | spayed | 2 years and 6 months old | 11 lbs

Hello, my cat has just turned 3yo and she vomits very often. A year ago it was very rear up to 3 times a month maximum and during February last month it reached 8 times. I am seeing a vet next week for her blood tests and urine samples, but I would like a second opinion from your experience, please.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Bella. I am glad that you are seeking care for her. That amount of vomiting is certainly not normal. Her kidney values should be checked in addition to her thyroid hormone. She should be tested for pancreatitis as well as these are all causes of vomiting. If the laboratory work does not give a specific diagnosis, then I typically recommend a diet change to a prescription hydrolyzed diet. This is an anti-inflammatory type of food that helps to treat inflammatory bowel disease if this is suspected. I hope this information helps!
