My dog's flaky skin won't go away. What else can I try besides fish oil?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 1 year and 9 months old | 71.2 lbs

My dog had flaky skin, she has ever since the first day we got her last year. I have used oatmeal shampoos to no avail. I started her on American Journey Salmon Oil a few daya ago. Is there anything else I can do to make the flakiness stop?

The fish oil may help with the flakey skin and it will take at least a month to see the difference. Certain brands of food are also better for dogs with dry skin. You may also consider changing Nova over to Royal Canin or Nutro. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.
