My budgie is vomiting, puffed, and lethargic. What should I do?

Pet's info: Bird | Parakeet | Male | unneutered | 5 years and 2 months old

Hi. I think my male budgie, Pako, may be sick. He has been vomiting, puffed up, sitting at the bottom of his cage, and sleeping during the day quite a lot. I also noticed yesterday that he was eating more seeds than he usually does. He has been displaying these symptoms for 4 days and he is around 5 years old. He has vomited before, but he has never displayed additional symptoms that made me suspicious, and I am very watchful. What can I do for Pako before I choose to take him to an avian vet?

Thanks for reaching out about Paco. A veterinary visit is needed to assist in a diagnostics and treatment plan. Providing supplemental heat in the 85-90 degree range could provide some comfort. Remove all perches and place a soft towel on the bottom, for comfort. Ensure water and food are within easy reach. These clinical signs could be caused by an infectious or metabolic problem. Good luck.
