Why does my cat dig and sit in the litter box but not pee or poop?

Question

Recently my cat has been getting in the litter box, digging in it and then sitting in it for like a minute at random points during the day (not too often, but at least once a day). After digging, she doesn’t poop or pee, she just sits, stares at me for a minute then leaves. What could it mean? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 5 years and 5 months old

Hello. It might not be anything, but chances are, she has a bit of a lower urinary tract infection, or possibly some cystitis. Anything like this can cause irritation & the urge to urinate. Sometimes these episodes require an antibiotic, sometimes a change to a urinary specific diet.
