My dog eats grass and vomits daily, but seems healthy. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 3 years and 3 months old | 65 lbs

My dog is a lab and pit mix she eats grass almost on a daily basis and most usually throws up afterwards but seems to be very happy healthy and playful before and after she eats and drinks regular but her tummy makes noises on occasion too no signs of diarrhea and her vomit is usually just white saliva looking substance with grass mixed in. Why does she eat the grass and vomit when she appears normal before and afterwards

Eating grass is generally not an issue. Some dogs are natural "grazers", while others will eat it to self medicate if they have some stomach upset. If Babie is vomiting daily or frequently, an exam with your veterinarian may diagnose the underlying cause. This may require blood work and/or abdominal x-rays.
