Why isn't my puppy walking on his leg after vet & painkillers?

Question

Puppy hurt rear leg took straight to vets checked given pain killers still not weight bearing on it but will strech it out when lying down. Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 4 days old | 5.5 lbs

Hi! Thanks for entrusting us with Pablo’s care today! Lameness can be a sign of a few things that range from a muscle sprain to even a fracture. Since he has not improved, I recommend that you have him reevaluated by your veterinarian so that this can be further assessed which will likely include radiographs if not performed yet. Treatment will be dependent on findings though at the very least other pain control medications can be prescribed. Good luck! Hoping for a speedy recovery!
