My cat has a red, inflamed spot on his skin. Could it be a hot spot?

We noticed a red spot on our male cat chocolate chip and it is very red. We think its heat spot but not sure. What do u think?

Hello. This does look like a spot that maybe your kitty managed to scratch at & caused a sore. I would just dab the area with a little peroxide twice a day & it should start to heal. If other spots should start to appear, your cat may be developing a form of an allergic skin condition called military dermatitis. If it continues, your vet can help in the treatment & prevent reoccurrences. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

    This does look like it could be a hot spot or more likely a small area of pyoderma (skin infection). Bacteria, fungal organisms or even ringworm could cause a lesion like this. A wound might be possible as well. I’d recommend having your vet take a look - they can prescribe antibiotics or other medication if necessary.
