Is it normal for a young dog to bleed again after her first heat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 55 lbs

I have a 1 year old Golden that went into her first heat. It lasted 26 days and ended 22 days ago. Now she is dripping blood again. She is acting normal, eating and playing. I read young dogs may have abnormal heats.

This is true. It could be normal for her but since this is her first round, I would have your vet take a look at her to ensure there isn't an infection since this he is first round. Your vet will be able to ensure she is healthy and doesn't need any treatment.
