My dog has diarrhea, gas, and stinky farts. Is it worms or food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | 1 year and 3 months old

Vader has been having poops like this for 2 days, I gave him pepto bismol but it hasn't stopped, this morning he has pooped 3 times and they all seem to have little textures like that and everytime I pick up the poop, it's like foamy and vader has a lot of gas too and his farts stink. I was wondering if he has work eggs in his poop or just ate human food that might of giving him this, because I checked around his anus and it's clean he has nothing moving or no little balls of what's in his poop.

Hello, sorry to hear about Vader. Diarrhea, flatulence, even vomiting and a decreased appetite are common in dogs whom have dietary indiscretions (getting into something they shouldn't have). Often, we recommend feeding a bland diet of plain white rice, skinless and boneless boiled chicken, and even low fat cottage cheese for 3-5 days. If his diarrhea does not improve in that time, if he develops vomiting, lethargy, or does not want to eat then he may need to see his veterinarian for further care. Other causes of this that are less likely include infections and ingestion of foreign material such as string or cloth. Finally any liver disease, kidney disease, or pancreatitis can cause this and will typically not improve on its own. If you think Vader is becoming more ill, then have him seen immediately. Hope this helps and best of luck.
