Are essential oils like lavender safe to diffuse around my cat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 1 year old

I am wondering what essential oils are safe and dangerous to diffuse around a cat. It's hard to find online as all websites have different answers and as I diffuse oils everyday such as lavender, lemon, peppermint and grapefruit, I do not want to hurt or put my cat at risk in any way. Any advice on what is the best would be great

This is a wonderful question and yes they can be safe but not all oils are created equal and cats can be quite sensitive. I would strongly recommend you to research the oils made by vet. You can visit oilyvet.com There is also a company called doterra who also has essential oils safe for animals. You can call them and discuss which ones would be best. I hope this helps!
