What to do when my cat's diarrhea won't stop after vet treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 2 years and 5 months old | 8.5 lbs

My cat is having a persistent diarrhea for over 10 days. I took her to the vet and they've conducted a CBC test and worm test where everything came fine. Her vital signs were good and she is not vomiting. She was prescribed a worm pill just in case and Flazol as an antibiotic for a slight increase in white blood count. Another vet suspected that she might be suffering from parasites and suggested to continue with the Flazol. However, after the pill and 7 days of Flazol she still suffers from it

Is she on a bland diet? I would recommend continue the medication and make sure she is on a bland diet. If she has been on a bland diet (prescription) then I would perform more diagnostics. I would start with xrays to make sure there is no foreign body (even without vomiting). I would also recheck a stool sample on her. This would be the first step in the diagnostics.
