Cat's lip swollen after injury. Is it an ulcer, bruise, or allergic reaction?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | European Shorthair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 8 lbs

Hello! My cat hit his head/face/something on thursday night and yesterday (friday afternoon) this started developing on his lower lip. It’s saturday night and i’m not sure if it’s gettibg any better and if t could be something else. I didn’t want to distress him and take him out of the house just for a bruise so could you help me? I’ve been told it looks like an ulcer and could be an allergic reaction to something but i’ve not introduced anything new into the household. HELP . Thank you

This could be a temporary inflammatory reaction -0 either to trauma or contact irritation. If he is otherwise well and is not in pain I would wait 72hours to see if it starts to dry up and reduce in size. If it is increasing or still moist at this stage then a vet check would be recommended
