New puppy has diarrhea with blood, but no parvo. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 5 days old | 7 lbs

I lost my german Shepherd named max due to parvo like 2 months ago.. I moved houses and now I have another puppy a Belgian Malinois/german Shepherd mix. She has no parvo symptoms. Not lethargic, NO vomit whatsoever, no loss of interest in food ...eating everything and drinking lots of water . I got her about 2 days ago but she has diarrhea, but I seen super small streaks of blood twice only. doesn’t stink and I forsure know parvo poop smells deadly . Please , help me with my concerns

This presentation could be dietary related and as a first approach, I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.
