My puppy vomits often. What causes her chronic sensitive stomach?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 1 year old | 11 lbs

I have a pup, a female around 7-8 months. We live in China. Since I got her in August she has a tummy issue and she vomits alot. She had an ultrasound and had inflammation, with medication it went down and she was able to keep food down. Since then she still vomits regularly maybe once every 2 to 3 days. She eats proplan dry food and a high quality raw food... And we got her a muzzle because she eats EVERYTHING when she's outside and pukes that up. But still her tummy seems sensitive.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Vomiting can be observed with gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, food sensitivity, inflammatory bowel disease, foreign body ingestion and obstruction or other conditions such as pancreatitis or kidney disease. Given the longevity of signs, I would be suspicious of inflammatory bowel disease. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics to be performed include abdominal imaging and general bloodwork. Treatment would depend on findings. Good luck and have a great day!
