My budgie lost feathers overnight, now has a bald spot. Is it serious?

Hello, I have a Male 6 year old budgie. And recently I noticed that he had lost a lot of feathers overnight. Now he has a patch without feathers. Could if be something serious?

Ouch! It looks like he may have plucked the feathers or got caught on something and tugged them out. I would check for signs of any issues such as redness, wounds, or even mites or flecks of "stuff" attached to the nearby feathers to see if there is an health-related cause to the lost feathers. Having him examined by your vet can also help determine if there is a health-related issue. If he checks out healthy, making sure his cage environment is safe and he can't get stuck or hurt anywhere can help. Adding in enrichment such as fun toys that need to be played with, exciting snacks, or time together can help with boredom plucking. An Elizabethan (cone) collar can also be made (Google has some tutorials on this) to prevent further feather plucking while the spot heals.
