Why is my cat licking and scratching so much? Fleas aren't the cause.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 6 months old

My cat is around 8 years old, she has a problem with her skin. She constant licks, scratches, bites her skin which sometimes leads her to throw up. I have tried different flea treaments to see if that’s the problem but it never seems to help. I have 2 other cats and they haven’t got anything wrong with them she seems to be the only one that has something wrong with her. Can you tell me if I should go to a vet, or if you can think of anything that can help her?

I would take Candy to the vet. Given that your other cats don't have it and you've been using flea treatments, I suspect something like allergies causing her itching. If this is true, the vet can prescribe medication to treat it. I hope this helps!
