Why does my cat have blood in soft stool after a recent food change?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 12 lbs

Im a little bit concerned about reggie. Reggie is being more vocal than normal. He is pooping softer stools than normal and has blood in it ... i cant afford a vet right now. Other than that, he is acting completely normal. He drinks and eats normally. We did switch food to a higher fiber diet last month

You could try a probiotic supplement like Fortiflora but if you continue to see blood or if Reggie has diarrhea you should see your vet. He could have parasites, colitis or even inflammatory bowel disease. Usually if a diet change is going to cause diarrhea it happens within a few days of the change so I doubt this is the cause.
