Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | spayed | 6 years and 2 months old | 45 lbs
I have a 6 year old Siberian Husky. She has a sore on top her front paw/leg that she will not let me near. I was able to snap a few photos when she was getting her morning snuggles. At first I thought it was from the way she lays or rough housing with my other 2 dogs. She has been excessively licking the area. It looks infected. How do I care for this at home?

Ouch. First she must have a cone collar to prevent her from licking it or it will never heal. The cone must be longer than the tip of her nose or she will get around it and still be able to lick it. You can try putting neosporin it twice a day if she will let you. You can clean it will mild soap and water. Just make you get all the soap off. I would not use any hydrogen peroxide or alcohol. finally, if it isn’t healing, i think she will need to see your vet. Your vet will be able to determine the cause and get her started on the proper meds to make her feel better. They will also be able to tell if there is a foreign object or a cause for the wound. I hope this helps!
