Why is my male cat not interested in female cat in heat after mating?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 4.4 lbs

Hey. Yesterday my female and male cat (which i brought 4-5 days ago) got engaged 2-3 times in front of me .. they have crossed successfully 2 times. But today the male cat is not very much interested in my female cat while he was after her all the time yesterday. What could be the reason? My female cat is still on heat.

While Appy may still look like she's in heat it is possible she has already ovulated and is pregnant after mating several times. It would be best to confirm the pregnancy with your vet once she is far enough along. If she continues to show signs of heat, has strange discharge, or shows any signs of illness, then seeking veterinary care sooner is best to make sure there isn't another cause such as an infection causing her symptoms.
