My cat's old abscess site is swollen and blue. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 lbs

My cat had an abscess on his around around 2 months ago, we took him to the vets and he was treated with antibiotics and anti inflammatory. The abscess burst and was cleaned. However, I have today noticed that where the hole was has swollen up and looks a little blue. Should I be concerned? I can’t get him to the vets until Friday morning at the earliest

It is probably just bruising of the skin and nothing to worry about. It is hard to say though without at least seeing a photo. Could you post again with this same information and include a photo or two of the area? We can give you better advice that way. Thank you.
