My dog's on prednisone. Why is he eating less and peeing so much?

Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 79 lbs

My dog just got put on prednisone on Friday for allergies and he hasn't been acting himself he is eating less will only eat like once a day instead of his normal twice a day drinking a lot more and sleeping a lot and and need to go potty more and when he goes pee sometimes he pees for along time and he pees a lot more and sometimes it clear I was just wondering is all this normal and if not what should I do?

The excessive urination and sleeping more are normal side effects of prednisone but i would also expect him to eat more, the fact that he is eating less is worrying indeed, it could be because the prednisone is upsetting his stomach, which is another common unwanted side effect. i recommend taking him back to your vet today to reassess the treatment plan.
