My dog has red bumps on his belly/groin. Should I use Genta Spray or vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Cocker Spaniel | Male | neutered | 10 months and 29 days old | 25 lbs

We noticed a some irritation on our dogs belly/groin about a week ago. He recently started climbing on top of plants to go to the bathroom, so we thought it might be from that. He’s not licking it and doesn’t seem to be in any pain. FYI he’s always had some bumps / discoloration down there - we’re referring to the small red bumps in the pic. I’m wondering if I should take him to the vet? We also have Genta Spray - would it help to use that? Thank you!

Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Thank you for posting the pictures as well. It does seem like there are a few small red bumps near his groin area as you described. This could be a contact allergy- perhaps a contact allergy to the plants or it may be a mild skin infection. If you have the Genta Spray and it is still good (not expired), then you may try using that daily to see if that helps. If it doesn't seem to be working, then I would recommend Louie sees his veterinarian. He may need oral antibiotics or other medications if needed to help clear this up. I hope this helps!
