My dog ate a tampon and is vomiting. Should I go to the emergency vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shorkie | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 74 lbs

Roxy chewed up a tampon from the trash she didn’t eat the string and some of it but she ate most of it, it happened the night before and Iv been watching her she pooped and I saw white things but I’m not sure if it was that she ate yesterday and was fine today when she woke up she threw up yellow it’s a Saturday should I take her to an emergency vet? I’m very worried and don’t want her intestinal track to clog up. What should I do should I wait to see if she eats or poops or take her to the vet.

I'd take Roxy into an ER vet now. The problem with tampons is that they can cause an intestinal blockage, and one sign of it is vomiting. She should be checked out now to make sure everything is ok. Best of luck.
