Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! These could be pyodermas (skin infections usually due to underlying allergies), contact dermatitis (if he laid on something irritating, very hot, or very cold), sun burn, ring worm, or mites. See your vet for a good exam and more accurate diagnosis as well as to get him started on the proper treatment (which can include creams, shampoos, pills, and shots, depending on what going on).
