I'm pretty sure my jack Russell ate dark chocolate but I don't know when I gave him peroxide a half hour ago and hasn't thrown up yet

I would recommend seeing an emergency veterinarian so they can induce vomiting with injectable medication. If you can estimate about how much chocolate was ingested it could help as well, but as little as 2 oz could cause mild symptoms of toxicity like vomiting and diarrhea. If you think he ingested it recently your best bet is to head to the vet to see if they can induce vomiting and determine whether or not Kenny did eat the chocolate.

Since your dog did not regurgitate the chocolate when given the Hydrogen peroxide, you can take him to a pet ER to be given an apomorphine injection which will make him throw up. You may also call the 24/7 Animal Poison Control Center 855-764-7661 $59 USD per incident fee applies for advice. Milk chocolate is not as toxic as dark chocolate, and 2 oz of true milk chocolate only contain 6mg/oz caffeine and 58mg /oz theobromine. So, calculated over the weight of Max (26lbs), he only ingested 1.02 mg/kg of caffeine and 9.82 mg/kg of theobromine, which are safe amounts for both toxins.

We need more information to calculate toxicity levels for you. We need to know what type of chocolate and how many ounces. The other option is to call poison control or your local veterinarian or veterinary emergency center and they can calculate toxicity levels as well. Then we can decide if further treatment is needed. Also- it is never wrong to go to the veterinarian right away as the longer he has it in his system the harder it may be to treat if need be. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
