My dog has a swollen eye, and warm compresses aren't working. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pomeranian | Male | neutered | 2 years and 5 months old | 7 lbs

My dog has a swollen eye. He has not had any accidents or anything. I’ve been doing warm compress but not seeing any improvement. He doesn’t have any other symptoms and has been on the Same food which is pure balance salmon.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It would be best to have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment at this point as this may be something concerning such as a corneal injury if it is in the eyeball per se for example or due to an infection of the skin around it though it is not possible to know this based on a picture. I recommend you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Best of luck!
