Is it normal for my puppy to have multiple soft poops in a row?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | 1 month and 29 days old | 0.2 lbs

I left for school early today, we have a 2 month old shih tzu at the house and she is in my brother's room. I wasn't able to play with her the whole day until tonight. After feeding her I took her to her potty place and she pooped there now after some 15 mins she pooped again but it was softer than the previous one. And then like after another couple of minutes she pooped again and it was much softer. It was just 3 poops and she haven't pooped again. She still is giddy and active. Is it normal?

Sometimes puppies (and older dogs) will poop several times in a row when they are excited or exercising, and the stubsequent stool can be soft like you’re describing. As long as it’s not diarrhea and there’s no blood or mucus I wouldn’t be concerned. If she does develop diarrhea I’d recommend seeing your veterinarian since she is so young.
