My dog limps after walks but is still hyper. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Olde English Bulldogge | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 10 months old | 82 lbs

My dog has developed a limp after a long walk about 2 weeks ago. She starts to improve but then over does herself again. She's 2 years old bulldog. Very hyper and active. I've spoken to my vet on the phone who advised to give it time (1 week ago). I've checked the knee, hip, pads and everything in between. She walks and runs fine but does not place weight on it when standing ljmps a little when slowly walking. She's her usual self no change is hyperness or food habits. I'm not sure where to go.

Hi! Thanks for entrusting us with Atlow’s care today! Lameness can be a sign of a few things that range from a muscle sprain to even a fracture. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian so that this can be further assessed which will likely include radiographs. Treatment will be dependent on findings though at the very least pain control medications can be prescribed. Good luck! Hoping for a speedy recovery!
