What's this painful growth on my rescued dog's paw? How to treat?

I want to know if there is a cream or pills... Or something else to make this go away.. I rescued this little dog... And dont know what this is.

It looks like they may be corns on the paw pads, they are very common in greyhounds. The only way to make them go away is to have a vet sedate her and remove them by shelling them out.
