My 6-month-old puppy has hip dysplasia. What's the permanent fix?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Mastiff | Male

My dog breed is French Mastiff. He is 6 months old and has hip dysplasia in both legs. I have been giving him pain killers and vitamin medicines prescribed by the doctor. What is the permanent solution to this probelm as he is growing up so fast and the pain is very immense.

Depending on the severity of the hip dysplasia, total hip replacement surgery may be needed (usually is done when dogs are fully grown at least at 12months). In the meantime pain relief medications are usually required. Please give us more clinical informations (you can attach x rays and tell us what meds is your dog taking) so we can give you further advices.
