Pet's info: Cat | American Longhair | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 2 months old | 6 lbs
My cat had kittens on 11/6. 5 healthy kittens, nursing well and gaining weight. Today I noticed mama still has a lumpy belly, and when I held her I KNOW i felt movement.... can she still have a kitten to be born? She's eating, drinking, etc all fine... no temp, vomiting, or anything. Seems like a perfectly healthy, happy nursing queen. I've heard cats can have 2 litters, days apart, but never had it happen before. This is her second pregnancy. Does this really happen?

If there still was a kitten inside she would probably be sick or straining with contractions. Cats can take up to 24 hours between kittens but I’ve never seen them give birth later than that. You may be feeling the intestinal movements when you are touching her belly. I’m sure she’s eating more so these can become more prominent. As long as she’s feeling fine and nursing I don’t think there is anything abnormal going on. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Cleo.
