My dog is vomiting & has mucus stool after antibiotics & food change. Vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 11 months and 24 days old | 10 lbs

My 11 month old chihuahua mixed 10lb dog recently recovered from a bacteria & was on antibiotics(Metronidazole) a couple of days before finishing his antibiotics I slowly started to switch him over to the adult brand of his kibble. I noticed 2 days after finishing his antibiotics he had gray mucus on his stool. I'm feeding him chicken&rice now. He then threw up yellow the following day & again pooped gray mucus around a small amt of soft stool and threw up white. He is still very active, go vet?

Hi. Yes if he is still vomiting even after the antibiotics and with a bland diet, it would be best to have him checked out. It may just be the new food that he is getting used to, but it is hard to tell. There are many things that can cause vomiting. I would recommend calling your veterinarian in the morning to schedule an appointment and they can then determine if there is any testing that may need to be done or if he just needs to be on a bland diet of it longer. Good luck
