Why is my puppy peeing more, drinking lots, and having accidents?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months old

My 12 week old scottish terrier yorkie cross puppy has made a few puddles. Controls her bladder well But Last 3 days she has been urinating more. Specific places. Also when she gets excited there’s like a “leakage”. We have 4 other dogs they play nonstop with her. Her hair is long and it’s hot. She drinks more often and having “accidents” inside. we find her playing in the waterbowl. She consumes more water. She eats and regularly poops outside. Should I worry?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Peeing and drinking more frequently can be a sign of a urinary tract infection, or can also be a sign of kidney damage. Other possibilities include behavioral conditions. I recommend that you have Jenny seen by a vet to have the urine and possibly the kidney values checked, and if this is normal discuss behavioral tactics to help with the inappropriate peeing. Best of luck with Jenny!
