My dog has a noticeable vein in her eye. Should I be concerned?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 years and 9 months old | 4 lbs

While checking her eyes I noticed that she has this very obvious vein in her right eye. Is this normal?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Precious. She may have some mild inflammation within her eye causing the prominent vein. If she is not squinting or pawing at the eye, it is likely not bothering her. If she is doing these things or if you notice a discharge from the eye, then she will need to see her veterinarian. Otherwise you can monitor her and it should not be a problem. I hope this information helps!
