Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | DOG-MED-SHORTHAIR | Male | 50 lbs

Our dog was diagnosed with liver or kidney failing said the vet yesterday. The vet put an iv on his hand because he hadn't eaten any food since he became sick lastweek. He was just drinking and vomiting. Also, the vet injected him 3 kinds of medicines and adviced us to comeback tomorrow. This day our dog discharged a black and wet feces 5 times. What is the indication of this black, wet feces?im praying that our dog may feel better now. Im pity on him. Pls help us. Thank you.

Black feces can be a sign of bleeding in the stomach which can sometimes occur secondary to kidney disease. There are also some medications, such as sucralfate, that can discolor the feces. I would recommend letting your vet know what Max’s stool looks like and they can determine whether or not they may need to run more tests or start additional medications. If you can save a sample of the stool it might help your vet.
