My Yorkie has itchy red skin spots. Should I take her to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 1 year and 11 months old | 7 lbs

Hi, My 2 year old yorkie has been itching a lot and yesterday I found two red circles in her skin, in the under neck and anterior leg, that I'll attach. They are not flat, they have some texture and itch. Can you tell me if it's just some insect bite or if I should worry and go to a physical vet? Thank you in advance, Catarina

I would recommend bringing Lia to a veterinarian. They can treat the lesions which are most likely from her itching so much and also help with the itching. They would be able to check for fleas, mites, and even discuss allergies with you. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
