Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 5 years and 4 months old | 14.4 lbs
What is causing my cat to lick herself excessively, and how can I get her to stop? She is almost five years old, lives with another female cat from the same litter, and has been causing bald spots on her legs and belly for a couple years now. It started after I got them spayed.

Excessive licking in a cat can be a sign of itchiness, and this can be caused by fleas, mites, allergies, or ringworm. It can also be behavioral in that the cat is stressed, bored, or anxious. I would have Miracle checked out by a vet this weekend if possible, or first thing Monday. A thorough health check is needed to make sure there isn't a medical cause behind this behavior, and if there is not, then it's behavioral and the vet can talk to you about ways to treat this. Give your vet a call to make an appointment. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
