Why does my dog keep licking her feet, has thinning hair in her underarm and elbow area with freckle-ish looking dots appearing all over her belly. Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | spayed | 4 years and 2 months old | 12 lbs

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Kennedy. She may be experiencing allergies to something in her environment. As humans we tend to experience watery eyes and runny noses as we inhale most allergens such as grasses, weeds, pollen and mold. Dogs walk through the grass so their paws so it is there paws and underside are most commonly affected. I would start by bathing her with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula to help soothe the skin. You can also wipe off her paws and underside with a damp cloth when she comes in from outside as this will help to physically remove allergens. If this does not help or doesn't resolve the issue, then she will need to see her veterinarian. I hope this information helps!
