My dog has a hard, yellowish lump on her tongue. What could it be?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 26 lbs

My 8 year old mixed breed has a growth just below the tip of her tongue. It measures around 2x2 cm, is round in shape with a clearly defined border. It is hard, non-tender to touch and is not warm. It is smooth and has a slight yellowish tinge. She has no other symptoms such as loss of weight & appetite nor does she have difficulty eating/drinking. what could this be?

I would recommend that Noelle have this mass examined by a vet and biopsied. It appears to be some kind of tumor. There are many different tumors that can occur in the mouths of dogs, some are benign and some are malignant. The only way to know the difference is to remove the mass and submit it for histopathology. Even benign tumors in the mouth can cause issues if they continue to grow.
