My dog's tail hurts a little, but he still wags it. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 11 years and 8 months old | 20 lbs

Yesterday I noticed my dogs tail was a little different. You can touch it some without him trying to get you away from it. He stills wags it some but I can tell it hurts a little. He still poops, pees, lay down, sits, eats and plays . What could this be

As an older dog, he may be getting arthritic and this can affect the tail, even if the discomfort is in his hips or back. He also may have gotten it caught in something, whacked it wagging if he's really enthusiastic, got pinched in a door, there are a number of possibilities. I would keep an eye on him and if it doesn't significantly improve in a day or two, consider getting him seen by your vet to make sure there isn't some underlying condition that may be making him uncomfortable.
