My dog vomited, now lethargic & won't eat. Should I repeat Cerenia?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund miniature | Male | neutered | 12 years and 1 month old | 23 lbs

My dog was sick, night before last, throwing up twice. I gave him Cerena yesterday morning. He hasn’t been sick again, He won’t eat and is lethargic. He drank a little water and a some chicken broth . Should I repeat the Cerrenia before taking to the vet this am? To see if that helps his appetite? He hasn’t vomited again. This is a 13-year-old, 23 pound, male dachshund.

It sounds as Cooper is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
