Why is my leopard gecko skinny, not eating, and has liquid white poop?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

So, I got him about a month ago. His tail was skinny when I got him, and it still is. He also does not eat regularly. And I don’t know if this is healthy or not, but his droppings are basically white, brown and very liquid-y. Please help! Thank You!

The first suggestion would be to have him examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites (worms). Check the temps in the cage next. Low temps can affect appetite and digestion in reptiles. You can review leopard gecko care at the link below. http://www.anapsid.org/leopardgek.html Make sure you offer appropriately sized prey, no bigger than the space between his eyes. Gut load all prey for 24 hours prior to offering. This is done by feeding prey a high protein baby cereal, tropical fish flakes and fresh fruits and vegetables. You will also need to dust them with a multivitamin and a calcium supplement. Good luck with Owen and I commend you for seeking out information so you can help him.
