My cat's eye is swollen, sore, and leaking. Does he need a vet?

My cats eye is puffy and swelled shut and has stuff leaking out of it. He won't let me touch him, it appears very sore? Is there something I can do for him here or does this require a vet visit?

I would recommend having this looked at by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. There may be a serious problem going on with the eye such as trauma (corneal ulcer, penetrating injury, etc.) and this requires immediate care. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
