My kitten pees on the bed every morning. How can I stop this behavior?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 6 days old | 4.4 lbs

I have a kitten, she’s about 4-5 months old, She’s pee’d on my husband in our bed about 5 times now. Always in the morning, as husband is getting up or has hit the snooze button. I’ve use the Natures miracle urine destroyer. She also has “ played “ like she was gonna pee on the bed but runs off when you say her name. I’ve done a lot to clean up and stop her. If I can’t stop this behavior I’m going to have to give her back to the rescue I adopted her from. She is an important member.

I would bring her into your vet for a urinalysis. Certainly there are behavioral causes for inappropriate urination, but it is important to rule out medical causes. I would also increase the number of litter boxes in your home and try some Feliway pheromone therapy to reduce stress. First and foremost, however, I would rule out a urinary tract infection or crystalluria.
