My dog ate snacks, vomited, has noisy belly. Is a vet visit needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Male | neutered | 5 months and 6 days old | 22 lbs

Charlie ate a small bag of snacks yesterday and woke up around 2am and vomited, it was mainly liquid and not very much. He doesn’t look sick but his belly is making all kind of noises and he didn’t finish his breakfast. He wants to come play and run like nothing happened. Should I take him to the vet?

I would give Charlie about 24 hours to recover. It’s ok if he doesn’t feel like eating for a day or so. If the vomiting continues beyond 24 hours or you are worried Charlie ate something he can’t digest (like bones) then you should take him in. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck.
