My picky puppy won't eat kibble. Is wet food a better option?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 1 year old | 30 lbs

Our 1 yr old Puppy is a very picky eater. She is fed twice a day. First is this still necessary? She won't eat kibble plain. I mix in some wet food. She sometimes will eat that but often I have to add chicken or cheese to get her to eat and sometimes she does not finish the full bowl..she's 30 lbs and we give from 1/4 to 1/2 cup kibble each meal with about 1/3 can of wet plus sometimes chicken or cheese. She will eat wet food without kibble with no problem but I thought kibble is better?

There is no health advantage over dry vs wet food. She is it eating the dry well because she is spoiled and knows you will give in and add better food such as wet or chicken At 30 pounds you can change to once a day feeding if you want. She only needs about 1/2 cup of dry food a day and some canned food added to it for her size. You can also add chicken broth or beef broth for more flavor to help to help get away from chicken
