Why is my 5-year-old dog crying when I touch his lower back?

My 5 year old do is crying when he sits or if i touch his lower back. We already know he has a bad paw from being hit as a puppy, but the area of where it hurts him is much higher. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 20 lbs

Dogs can get back pain from a bulging intervertebral disc. This causes pain and sometimes weakness or paralysis in the legs. It common in small dogs and can be very serious.
