Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 8 months old

Male cat, 21 months aged,4 kilogram weighted and Tiger named dose not like any wet food and boiled chicken and fishes. He eats only cat dry food himself. Any kind of wet food has to force feed and he is afraid of it.Even then if I stop to give dry food for 1 to 2 days and replace by wet food,he goes on hunger strike. He has loosed 1 kg weight already.I'm feeling helpless. How can I make him used to eat wet food on meal time???

Cats will only eat what they learned was edible when they were kittens, therefore it is very difficult to teach them to eat other food. You can try to feed the wet food warmed up, or feed dry food and mix in a small bit to the wet food. If your cat eats that you can mix in a little more every day. It is possible that Tiger does not like the particular wet food you are feeding, so you can try another brand. Please do not let him go hungry for a day or two as it can make him ill. It is quite possible that he will never eat wet food and you need to keep feeding him dry food..
